the hotel with bright and spacious rooms, in a nice enough area, near from the bus stop. pretty friendly, amazingly nice people working here. great and absolutely perfect location, a short walk to everywhere. for tea or coffee visit snack bar o canecao nearby.

This charming hotel offers excellent value for the price. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished with lovely antique furniture, and some even have balconies. The breakfast provided basic but nice food, including homemade jams.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The bed was super comfy and guaranteed a great night's sleep. The hotel facilities were fantastic, especially the garden where I could sit and chill with a book. The hotel's location was close to Bussaco forest and the Bussaco palace, which was perfect for exploring. The staff were super welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was great.

Very nice old building and the location was good

The building exudes timeless elegance and charm. The room was absolutely stunning, with a beautifully designed shower. The value for money was INCREDIBLE. The WiFi worked perfectly. The location was unbeatable. The lady at check-in was incredibly helpful and provided us with maps and information. All in all, a mind-blowing stay with jaw-dropping service and amenities.

Well-designed room, large bathroom, AMICABLE staff. Magnificent and ideal location for my plans, being close to a bus stop.

Fairly basic breakfast.

The hotel and communal areas are lovely in a delightfully traditional Portuguese country house sort of way, and smelled of beeswax and polish! However our room, though very reasonably priced, was rather disappointing and really needed upgrading - very old bathroom fittings, TV etc, and the pool area, bar and restaurant were all dark and closed when we arrived just before 9pm. However the Alegre was wonderfully placed to walk to Bucaco and the enchanting palace in the middle of the ancient forest, and breakfast was nice too.

While we love character places, our bedroom really needed updating, and it would have been nice to be able to sit by a lit pool on a warm summer's evening. Also, the white plastic pool furniture looked a bit grey and dirty in the daylight, though it may just have been old.

Overall unforgettable stay on vacation. Overall clean hotel in a very well maintained building close enough to a hillside above the town, Coimbra and the forest of Busaco. Amiable personnel, new-fashioned rooms with a bathroom, a panoramic window and Classic furniture. Excellent and unbeatable location to a national forest.
